Migrate from MyEtherWallet to Trust Wallet

Attention!
You are solely responsible for your wallets security. Always create a backup before making any changes to your wallet. This guide is for educational purposes only.

Here are the steps for migrating from MyEtherWallet to Trust Wallet. For this guide, we will be using a Keystore File in order to import your Ethereum Wallet.

Note:
You can skip the first two steps if you already have the Keystore File.

Step 1 - Getting the Keystore File

For MyEtherWallet, you can get the Keystore File upon initial creation of the wallet. Make sure you keep the file secure and the password written down as you need both to access your wallet.

Go to https://www.myetherwallet.com/ and tap on Create A New Wallet, then tap on By Keystore File. Set a password and download your Keystore File on your device.

Attention!
Always keep your Keystore File secure and the password to yourself.

Step 2 - Getting the ETH Address

After creating your wallet, you need to access it via your Keystore File. Go to https://www.myetherwallet.com/ and tap on Access My Wallet, then tap on Software. Tap on Keystore File then continue. Upload your file, type your password, then tap on Access Wallet.

Take note of your ETH Address. This will be required later to confirm if we have done the procedure correctly.

Step 3 - Access Wallet Import Screen

Important!
Download Trust Wallet only from official sources.
Here are the download links for both platforms:
App Store: ‎Trust: Crypto & Bitcoin Wallet on the App Store
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wallet.crypto.trustapp

Open Trust Wallet and then tap on Settings . In the Settings screen, tap on Wallets .
Tap on the “+” sign on the upper right to access the Import Screen. Tap on Ethereum .

Step 4 - Importing the Keystore File

Open your Keystore File, copy the entire contents and paste it on the Keystore JSON tab. Type the password to decrypt the file. Put a Name so that you can easily recognise the wallet. Once you are done typing, just tap on Import .

Step 5 - Compare the ETH Address

After completing the importation process. Compare the ETH address from the other wallet with Trust Wallet. If they are the same, then you have done the migration successfully. Congratulations!
