A step-by-step guide to withdraw your crypto from Bitfinex to Trust Wallet
In this guide, we’ll show you how to withdraw funds from Bitfinex to Trust Wallet. Trust Wallet is a self-custody multi-chain crypto wallet used by 60+ million people worldwide. It supports over 8 million assets, over 70 blockchains, and allows you to safely explore thousands of Web3 decentralized applications (dApps).
This guide works whether you’re using the Bitfinex mobile app or website – and if you don’t already have Trust Wallet installed for your mobile device or desktop computer, you can get the latest version here: trustwallet.com/download
To withdraw crypto from Bitfinex to Trust Wallet, you’ll need to:
- Get your Trust Wallet crypto deposit address.
- Input your deposit address into Bitfinex, and then initiate the withdrawal of your crypto.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Get your Trust Wallet deposit address
- Open your Trust Wallet mobile app or Trust Wallet Browser Extension and select the “Receive” button from the main page.
Important: The Trust Wallet Browser Extension supports asset transfers on the following networks – Ethereum, Solana, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, and all EVM chains. Please use the Trust Wallet mobile app for asset transfers on any other network – as the mobile app has full network support including the above-mentioned.*
-
Select the crypto asset you want to deposit. You can scroll or use the search function to find the asset as well.
-
Copy your deposit address. You’ll need this to use on Bitfinex.
Step 2: Withdraw the crypto from Bitfinex to Trust Wallet
In this step, you’ll paste your Trust Wallet deposit address into the appropriate area in Bitfinex.
-
Navigate to the withdrawal option on the Bitfinex website or Bitfinex app. Here’s how:
-
Select “Withdrawal”.
-
Now choose the asset you want to withdraw.
-
In this next step, you’ll enter the deposit address you copied from your Trust Wallet into the area for the Bitfinex withdrawal address.
To start, select the option to add a new withdrawal address on Bitfinex.
However, if you previously added the address, you can skip to the next step (5) to complete your withdrawal.
Once you select the option to add a new withdrawal address, follow the instructions to add your own unique description (this can be anything you want), and then paste in your Trust Wallet deposit address when asked to do so.
Be sure to paste the address to avoid any errors!
Next, follow any instructions to confirm the address.
- On Bitfinex, follow the instructions to complete the withdrawal. You’ll enter the amount you want to send to Trust Wallet, review the details, and then confirm.
And that’s it!
You’ve sent your crypto to your own wallet, meaning you now have complete access and control over your crypto.
From here, you can open your Trust Wallet to confirm the funds have arrived. Depending on the asset, transfer times can range from a few minutes to much longer.
Note: Be sure to always check the blockchain network you are using to withdraw assets from Bitfinex to your Trust Wallet. For example, Bitfinex does not support the Binance Beacon Chain or Binance Smart Chain networks. And we encourage you to also check over the details of every transfer carefully.
Why Should You Move Your Crypto from Bitfinex to Trust Wallet?
Trust Wallet is a self-custodial wallet, which means you have complete access and control over the crypto held in your wallet.
The difference between a self-custodial wallet like Trust Wallet and a centralized exchange is that when you keep crypto on an exchange, you have to trust the exchange to “custody” the crypto for you. In other words, the exchange ultimately controls your crypto, not you.
The problem with that is crypto held on exchanges is typically not insured, and you have to trust the exchange will take care of your funds. Unfortunately, that is not always the case as there are sometimes situations that not even the exchange can control, and could lead to the permanent loss of your funds.
That’s why it’s essential that once you’ve transacted on exchanges, that you actually hold your crypto assets in a non-custodial wallet, like Trust Wallet, where only you have control over your funds and your wallet’s private keys. Trust Wallet cannot access your funds, nor do we collect any user data that could identify users.
