Award Selection Rules Based on BTC Hash Value

Why are we using this method to determine the winners?

By using this mechanism, we can use the immutability of blockchain technology to ensure complete fairness in selecting winners. This method enables us to determine only the legitimate entries and eliminate fraudulent or late submissions. In this way, we can provide a fair experience for all participants.

How does it work?

  • We will take the final 10 digits of the last Bitcoin hash value at 11:59 PM (UTC) on the last day of the promotion period as the winning number. For example:

    • The last hash value for 2023-01-01 was 000000000000000000008910204d64a30dca1f1bfd390e82dfd574324aea20f2;
    • The digits for that value are 000000000000000000008910204301139082574324202;
    • The last 10 digits of that hash are 2574324202.
  • A user’s BTC wallet address contains 35 alphanumeric characters at most, with 13 to 18 digits on average. We will take the final 10 digits of each qualifying wallet address to create a 10-digit entry number for that address. If any qualifying wallet address contains less than 10 digits, “0” will be added to the end of the last digit until we have 10 digits in total.

    • Example 1 (10 or more digits):

      • Take a wallet address is 1ExAmPL3B1tC0inW4LleTADDR3ss36qFxt;
      • The digits for that address would be 131301043636;
      • The last 10 digits of that wallet address would be 1301043636.
    • Example 2 (Less than 10 digits):

      • Take a wallet address that is 2AnOtHer51Ex4mp73HaDDrEss;
      • The digits for that address would be 251473;
      • The digits with added zeroes would be 2514730000;
  • While there are still awards remaining, awards will be distributed in descending award value based on the following prioritization:

    • Most consecutive digits matched with winning number: Qualifying addresses with entry numbers that have more consecutive digits matched with the winning number will receive an award first over those with less digits matched (e.g. matches of 10 consecutive digits are prioritized over matches with 9 consecutive digits, matches of 9 consecutive digits are prioritized over matches with 8 consecutive digits, etc.).

    • Wallet addresses sorted in alphanumeric order: For qualifying addresses that are tied with the number of consecutive digits matched, an award will first go to addresses that appear earlier when sorted in ascending alphanumeric order. Similarly, if no remaining qualifying addresses have any matching digits with the winning number, then an award will first go to addresses that appear earlier when sorted in ascending alphanumeric order.

  • Winning Examples:

    • Assume that the last Bitcoin hash value on the last day of this promotion period is: 6a7c65f4b977e7213df1580cfdbe88171e2ead71f1c273a48e6628743435d8c1

    • Removing the letters from the hash value gives us a string of numbers: 676549777213158088171271127348662874343581

    • The last 10 digits for this hash would be 2874343581.

    • Example 1 (First-place winner): The wallet address b2i8t7c4o3i4n3a5d8dress is the only qualifying address that has an entry number that consecutively matches 10 digits of the winning number 287434358, and therefore that user will win the first prize, regardless of other matches.

    • Example 2 (Last award, different number of digits matched):

      • MAtcHw8i7n4N3e4R has an entry number of 8743400000, which consecutively matches 5 digits of 287434358;
      • LOseR4A3d5D8ress has an entry number of 4358000000, which consecutively matches 4 digits of 287434358;
      • MAtcHw8i7n4N3e4R receives the last award, as it has more digits matched.
    • Example 3 (Last award, same number of digits matched):

      • AAard3v5a8rk has an entry number of 3580000000, which consecutively matches 3 digits of 287434358;
      • Rh2i8no7ceros has an entry number of 2870000000, which consecutively matches 3 digits of 287434358;
      • AAard3v5a8rk receives the last award, as it is alphanumerically ordered earlier than Rh2i8no7ceros.

Note: This announcement was last updated on 2023-06-28 to inform participants that the winners of the campaign will now be determined by the last 10 digits of their BTC address, instead of the previous method which considered the last 35 digits.
