Hi not sure what is happening when purchasing crypto previously a contract would open for approval. Now nothing. I select connect wallet Trust wallet opens but there is no contract to approve?

When swapping tokens for the first time, you must approve it first to be spendable.
You have most likely done that and do not need to approve for future swaps of that particular swap pair but only swap directly.
But note that when you try to swap a different token pair, you will need to approve for that also.
All in all, approval happens just once.
