DApp Browser Removal on iOS version of Trust Wallet

We are completely removing the decentralized application (DApp) browser from Trust Wallet on iOS starting with our next release (version 6.0). This is required to comply with Apple’s App Store Guidelines and to continue offering and improving our services on iOS.

Before we get into more detail, here are the important points:

  1. Your funds are SAFU.
  2. Android users will be unaffected.
  3. The new iOS version will not include the DApp browser and it cannot be re-enabled.

Why the DApp browser will be completely removed

All iOS apps must conform to Apple’s guidelines to be listed in their App Store. Dapps by nature constitute “code not embedded in the [app] binary,” and need to meet several criteria to be allowed in an iOS app.

For the past year, the team has been in communication with Apple in order to understand and resolve this issue. However, in order to continue updating the iOS version of Trust Wallet, we need to remove the DApp browser in future releases of the app. We are saddened by this outcome, but it’s necessary for the future development of our wallet.

What if I have assets in DApps?

As an interim step to maintaining compliance with Apple, the list of DApps has been removed from the Browser section. You can still access DApps manually by typing the URL into a web browser such as Safari, Chrome, or Firefox.

The DApp browser will be removed completely in the next release of the Trust Wallet iOS app. Moving forward, you can still interact with Dapps from a web browser and WalletConnect.

If you’ve been interacting with DApps using Trust Wallet on iOS, all of your funds and collectibles will still be accessible. Trust Wallet doesn’t hold your assets, it’s just a gateway to access them. As long as you have a backup of your Recovery Phrase, you will always have full control over your assets.

Here are some recommended solutions in order to continue accessing DApps:

For users

  • The simplest option, use the Android version of Trust Wallet. By importing your wallet on an Android device, you will be able to continue interacting with your favorite DApps like nothing has changed.
  • For iOS users, you can still access DApps via WalletConnect by following this guide. Use the Safari browser on your mobile device to access DApps.
