Almost every now and then, crypto exchanges are hacked and huge amount of funds are stolen. Coincheck, bitgrail, bitfinex, zaif, bithumb, cryptopia, upbit etc even the presumably more secured ones get hacked.
Be your own bank in a trustworthy wallet.

Not your keys, not your cryptos!
Even Binance with their unlimited ressources and security efforts got hacked.
No System/Exchange is 100% safe! Only store, on any exchange, what you need
to trade or willing to loose.
On the other hand, safely storing and handling of your own wallet-keys is also sometimes troublesome and unsafe for some peeps/rookies. But preferably always use a (cold) wallet for your longterm hodlings. Cheers
