If you are confused, then just use tools like CoinMarketcap and CoinGecko to see a list of the best exchnages.
At CoinMarketCap you can see the ranking of Exchnages.
At Coingecko it is the same and comes with a Trust score of 1 - 10, 10 is the best score.

The response to this question is different depending on your location. Globally, Binance and then Huobi is your safest bet. If in the US, I would say Coinbase. In Europe, I would say Cex. In India, WazirX is the best bet.
You should prefer Dex for honest exchanges like Uniswap, 1inch.exchange, Idex Market. You can access all these from your Trust Wallet and your funds remain in your custody all the time. For god sake, keep your private keys and Mnemonic phrase safely. Happy shopping
