DeFi - Decentralized Finance is the merger of traditional bank services with decentralized technologies such as blockchain. You can also call it Open Finance due to its inclusive format. The purpose of DeFi is to make the payment system universally accessible, no matter where you are. It refers to the digital assets and financial smart contracts, protocols, and decentralized applications (DApps) built on Ethereum. In simpler terms, it’s financial software built on the blockchain that can be pieced together like Money Legos. In practice, DeFi is an overlapping network of dapps and smart contracts built on Ethereum with a focus on financial applications such as borrowing, derivatives, exchanges, trading, etc.

Básicamente son finanzas descentralizadas como su nombre lo abrevia, es una innovadora manera de manejar los activos sin ningún agente que los controles. Todo es completamente descentralizado

We are repeating topics way too often lately…but nevertheless
DeFi - or Decentralized Finance - aims at creating a financial system that is open to everyone and minimizes one’s need to trust and rely on central authorities.

Being our own banks - not having to trust government to not overprint money overnight; not having to trust banks to safely store our money.

Almost all DeFi applications are built on the Ethereum blockchain.

Some of its sectors are:

Borrowing and lending platforms using digital and smart contracts to connect lenders to borrowers, distribute interest, and enforce the terms of loans. All without the need to trust one another or middlemen banks.
Decentralized Exchange (DEX) that uses smart contracts to handle funds, execute trades and enforce trading rules. All with no exchange operator, no sign-ups, no ID verification and no withdrawal fees.
