Trust Wallet 2.0 - Making Crypto More Accessible

When our Founder and CEO Viktor Radchenko released Trust Wallet to the public over a year ago, he did so because he couldn’t find a simple and reliable ERC20 Wallet to store his Ethereum tokens obtained during the ICO craze. Shortly after, Trust Wallet laid down its first milestone when the team added a new Wallet feature to “automagically” show any ERC20 token a user owned inside their Ethereum Wallet. A lot has changed since then, but our core mission has always remained the same: make crypto more accessible

Where we are now

Just like the internet giant Amazon expanded its offering after securing the niche online book sale market, Trust Wallet now pivots away from being just the best-in-class Ethereum Wallet to a truly powerful Multi Cryptocurrency Wallet. It now allows you to access hundreds of decentralized applications (DApps) and transact with different blockchains through an intuitive mobile interface with unmatched simplicity and user-friendliness.

Speaking about blockchains, we just recently added support for a larger portion of the Bitcoin family (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Dash). As of today, Trust Wallet supports a total of 14 different blockchains.

Both our Bitcoin Wallet and Litecoin Wallet have been built from scratch with native SegWit support in mind, which means you can utilize the latest bech32 standard when sending, receiving and transacting cryptocurrency.

So what does it actually mean for our users? Two things:

Faster transactions: it reduces the effective block size and packs more transactions into the Bitcoin/Litecoin network Significant lower fees for the transactions alone For DApps, we now offer a beautiful, streamlined experience for your ERC-721 crypto collectibles and have added support for DApps across 4 different blockchains (Ethereum, Dash, GoChain and POA Network). Any many more to come.

One wallet for all your crypto assets

So what exactly do we mean by “all crypto assets”? We want Trust Wallet to be the only Wallet you use for storing just about every major crypto on the market. No more a full screen of Wallet apps.

We will do this in two major steps. First of all, we are committed to supporting the top 20 cryptocurrencies, such as Tezos, Zilliqa and EOS. We prioritize privacy projects. So, you can expect us to soon add privacy coins like ZCoin, ZCash, Monero, and even upcoming and coming ones like Grin and Beam.

Our second major step towards this goal is to build an infrastructure to enable support for almost any blockchain easily. Later in this quarter, we will release an open source SDK called “Wallet Core”, which allows developers to integrate their blockchain projects with Trust Wallet through a simple GitHub pull request.

If you are attending ETH Denver this February, make sure to show up and say hi at our upcoming Trust Wallet Meetup during the conference. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay tuned. We will release further details of the SDK implementation at the meetup

Trust Wallet 2.0 - An outlook for the near future

You say, not enough to call it a 2.0 version? What else is coming next? Don’t worry. We have more exciting plans in the coming months ahead

Trust Wallet Desktop Version

Yes, you heard it right. Trust Wallet is expanding from its root of mobile only to both mobile and desktop, while maintaining its priority as a “mobile-first Wallet.” You will soon be able to enjoy Trust’s easy and user-friendly interface that you always adore on your desktop too.

But, why do we keep the “mobile-first” strategy? Mobile covers a wider geography which aligns with our mission to make crypto more accessible. We believe that making the world of decentralized applications and payments available from the palm of one’s hand will truly make crypto more accessible to a broader range of people.

Nonetheless, the Desktop version is a feature a lot of you have asked for, and we are excited that we are working to make it a (not so distant) reality

Native Wallet for Binance Chain and Integrated DEX

Many of you may know about this, but we’d like to address it officially. With the impending launch of Binance Chain and its corresponding decentralized exchange (DEX), Trust Wallet will become the first native decentralized Wallet for DEX and also support the new native Binance Coin (BNB) on Binance Chain.

What this means for our users is that you will benefit from Binance Chain’s fast confirmation time and won’t have to worry about using another interface as it’s built into the same easy and user-friendly environment that you are already familiar with.

Stay tuned for more details of this integration and what you need to do to swap your ERC20 BNB tokens to the new native chain.

Cold Storage through Hardware Wallets

Many of you have requested the cold storage support for a while, but the market just wasn’t ripe for an easy and mobile-friendly solution. Now with the rise of Bluetooth, NFC and QR capable hardware Wallet, we think now it’s the time to finally bring you this feature.

We are working closely with several manufacturers on not only integrating hardware wallets with Trust, but also setting an industry standard to make adding future hardware wallets more easily.

What this means for you as user is that you can seamlessly control your entire crypto wealth from the palm of your mobile device, while your crypto millions are safely stored on a seperate device at home.

This update marks an important beginning for us and our users as we embark on the Trust Wallet 2.0 journey together. We’re excited to continue serving the community’s needs and appreciate all your suggestions and feedback.
