My Recovery Phrase Has Been Exposed!

Your Recovery Phrase holds the keys to your crypto. The addresses on the Multi-Coin wallet are fixed to this specific set of words. The Recovery Phrase cannot be changed for the exposed wallet.
If someone else knows it, then you are basically handing over your assets to them.

So what can you do if this happens?

Note:

  • The steps mentioned on this guide is only applicable if you still have funds left on the wallet.
  • The Trust Wallet Team have no way to recover your funds.
  • Every transaction happens on the blockchain.
  • Trust Wallet does not hold any of your assets.

Here are 3 simple steps that you need to do as soon as possible:

Step 1 - Create a New Wallet

If you only have one multi-coin wallet on your device, create a new one. We have a guide on How to Create a Multi-Coin Wallet that you can follow if you are not yet familiar with it.

Note:
If you already have multiple wallets on your device and you believe they are secure, then you can skip this step.

Step 2 - Transfer Your Funds

Immediately Send your crypto to the newly created wallet or to secure wallet that you have. By doing so, you are saving your funds from being stolen. Just make sure that you have the necessary Network Fees in order to make a transaction.

Step 3 - Delete The Wallet

In order to prevent accidentally using the compromised wallet, it is best to just Delete the Wallet. The addresses are still active on the blockchain and the a cannot delete the actual addresses as they are a permanently created on the blockchain.

Always Protect Your Crypto Wallet.
